Windows XP/2000 Virtual Sound System Software
SoundMan-Server
SoundMan-Server is a Virtual Sound System (VSS) API which
configures and programs in real time with almost unlimited capabilities.
It replaces most traditional audio system components
and license cost is directly proportional to the scope of the
application. The basic configuration is free.
Download SoundMan-Server
Download and unzip all three files contained in this archive into the same
folder. Windows XP
is recommended for optimum operation. Without a license
dongle this runs in Free/Demo mode which provides two live inputs, two outputs
and four playbacks. We do not currently recommend Windows XP Service
Pack 3.
IMPORTANT: REQUIRES a processor with MMX and SSE instruction sets! Requires
SoundMan-Monitor which must be downloaded below and installed in the
same folder.
Also required for licensed operation are ASIO audio interfaces connected to the
computer with a sufficient number of inputs and outputs.
ASIO4ALL
drivers are sufficient for this purpose.

SoundMan-Monitor Release Notes
SoundMan-Monitor captures the combined log messages from both SoundMan-Server
and SM-Assistant. It needs to be in the same directory with SM-Assistant and
SoundMan-Server, but you don't need to start it yourself (although you could).
If it isn't running SM-Assistant and
SoundMan-Server will both try to start it when they start.
NOTE: If SoundMan-Monitor isn't accessible, neither SM-Assistant
nor SoundMan-Server will start.
DbgHelp.dll is a standard Microsoft DLL that is now used by both SM-Assistant
and SoundMan-Server to take crashdumps when something seems to be going wrong.
This should be
placed in the same directory as SM-Assistant and SoundMan-Server, **NOT** in
system32, where there probably already is a version of this file! This file
only needs
to be loaded on Windows 2000 installs since XP and later have the correct
version of this file. The version included with Windows 2000 is too early and
doen't have some of the entry
points that we need, so we are allowed to redistribute the XP version to make
things work.
NOTE: If the new version of DbgHelp.dll isn't accessable, neither SM-Assistant
nor SoundMan-Server will start.
Download DongleStuffer
- use this utility to update your support and/or upgrade your SoundMan-Server
license without getting a new dongle using files we will email to you.

Free Theatre Sound Design & Show Control Windows GUI for SoundMan-Server
Virtual Sound System Software. Show
controller, sequencer, multichannel programmable live audio processor &
matrix with audio playback. Programs, runs and manages any number of shows,
audio selections and projects. Imports all AB1616 and 1616HD AudioBox
shows and is functionally equivalent to
the model AB1616 AudioBox when used with a licensed 16x16+32x16 SoundMan-Server
or greater.
When used with this licensed software, SM-Designer has a MAXIMUM of 16 live
audio inputs, 16 outputs and 16 playback tracks. The demo/free/offline version
has two live audio inputs, two outputs and four real playbacks while all other
channels are in an emulation mode that accurately emulates a full size licensed
system but outputs no audio.
Download SM-Designer
NOTE: If you just want SoundMan-Server, do NOT install this software!
Windows XP recommended for optimum operation.
IMPORTANT: SM-Designer REQUIRES a processor with MMX and SSE instruction
sets!
Also required for fully licensed operation are at least 16 ASIO audio inputs and
16 ASIO audio outputs. At least 2 ASIO audio inputs and 2 ASIO audio outputs
are required for demo/free operation -
ASIO4ALL
drivers are sufficient for this
purpose. Installation must be done by an administrator but any user can run
the program.
SM-Designer includes three software modules which are installed
by the installer: SM-Designer (a GUI similar to ABEdit),
SM-Assistant (a show controller), and a standard version of
SoundMan-Server.
If you want to update to the latest versions of SM-Assistant and
SoundMan-Server, download them using the links below:
Download the latest SoundMan-Server files.
Download the latest SM-Assistant.exe
Then unzip them and manually replace the executable files called
SoundMan-Assistant.exe and SoundMan-Server.exe which are normally installed in
C:\Program Files\RSD\SoundMan-Designer
Also put SoundMan-Monitor.exe and DbgHelp.dll in this folder.

Windows XP/2000 Show Control Software
The Ultimate Live Show Control Program
Download ShowMan - Licensed Production Version
ShowMan - Licensed Production Version
- alternate download site
EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: This version REQUIRES a dongle for licensed operation!
Please contact RSD for further information.
Windows XP recommended for optimum operation.
IMPORTANT: Shows created or edited with this version are NOT
BACKWARD COMPATIBLE with some much earlier versions.
This will not affect shows using only the show default
MIDI port, but it will require reprogramming
shows made on an older version using multiple MIDI ports.
Therefore, it is important to MAKE A BACKUP OF THE CURRENT SHOW before
upgrading to this version of ShowMan.
We advise you
always to use the latest posted version of ShowMan.
Download ShowMan with Demonstration License File
Unpack this, run ShowManSetup.exe and enjoy for up to one half hour
at a time until it expires three months after creation (see above) or email us
for a demo version for your own use.
Includes E-Show device configuration settings and demo Show with
Scarlatti Sonatas to show how precise cue timing is during
sequence playback.
